Job Purpose
As part of the team ensure the Cafe @ The Warehouse runs smoothly. The post holder will retain an environment that is welcoming to all customers. Our aim is to create a sustainable, training cafe that offers opportunities to young people so they develop work based skills for the hospitality sector. We provide on the job training to trainees throughout their placement.

The post holder is expected to work as a member of a dynamic team in a creative environment where new ideas, new ways of working and supporting young people are actively encouraged. This approach requires initiative, flexibility and adaptability and above all a passion for working with and supporting young people.
The role holder will report to the Deputy Chief Officer and will work closely with the Social Enterprise team, volunteers and external organisations.
Job Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the opening up and closing down of the cafe.
- Greet people warmly on arrival and let them know which table is available. Ensure a professional and friendly level of customer service
- Deal with walk-ins and telephone bookings
- Support trainees so they achieve high standards
- Take orders, serve meals and clear tables
- Liaise with the kitchen team to ensure an efficient and seamless service, provide hands on support during busy periods when needed
- Respond quickly and sympathetically to any customer concerns
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including food hygiene regulations
- Input into the scheduling of work rosters for the cafe team ensuring the correct level of staffing is achieved on each shift
- Provide catering services to the Inkwell and outside organisations as required
- Ensure that the cafe and bar area are clean and meet health & safety requirements
- Ensure the cafe and bar area's equipment and furnishings are properly maintained
- Ensure all foods that are prepared, cooked and stored in the cafe meet the high standard of food hygiene
- In partnership with the kitchen team organise, manage and purchase cafe supplies, undertake regular stock checks and ensure there are robust stock controls in place
- Undertake a daily cashing up of the till and bank takings on regular basis
- Ensure all cash expenditures are covered by receipts
- Input into discussions about effectiveness of the cafe and where appropriate introduce better ways of doing things
- Support the promotion of the cafe
- Liaise with the Team Administrator on invoicing and cards, ensuring records are accurate and up to date
Pay: £13.45 per hour
