Head Chef
Location: The Black Horse, 92 Wood Street, High Barnet, EN5 4BW
Salary: £48,000 plus tronc and performance bonus
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time, 45 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days
The Black Horse is building something worth being part of. A proper North London pub with serious ambitions for food, a drinks trade that's already turning heads, and a team that knows what it's doing. We're looking for a Head Chef to open the kitchen and help make this one of the best places to eat and drink in North London.
It's a rotisserie-led kitchen, built around the best British produce. What we need is a Head Chef who can deliver it brilliantly, build and lead the kitchen team, and bring the kind of expertise that makes a good menu great on the plate. We have a vision and need someone excited to execute it.

What the role involves:
- Delivering a rotisserie-led menu built around seasonal British produce
- Full oversight of kitchen operations, food safety, and supplier relationships
- Recruiting, training, and managing the kitchen team
- Controlling food costs and GP margins without compromising quality
- Working closely with front-of-house and the management team on service and standards
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, or a Senior Sous Chef ready to take the next step
- Someone who thrives on delivering a menu to a high standard, consistently
- Someone who cares where the meat comes from and how it's cooked
- Organised, hands-on, and calm under pressure

The Black Horse is a traditional pub in High Barnet run by Barnet Community Pubs Ltd, a team of experienced hospitality professionals with a clear vision for what this place can be. The drinks trade is strong and growing. The kitchen is the next chapter. The right chef will play a central role in making it one of the best food and drink destinations in North London.
Pay: £48,000.00 per year
