Summary
We are seeking a meticulous Bookkeeper and Administrative Support professional to join our team in Shrewsbury. This role is essential in managing our financial records and providing administrative assistance to ensure the smooth operation of our charity activities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Xero.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently.
- Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial reports.
- Support administrative tasks including minute taking, arranging meetings, booking rooms, filing, and correspondence.
- Running VAT submissions via Xero and payroll.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with charity regulations.
- Contribute to the overall financial health of the organization by ensuring timely processing of transactions.
- Cover the cashier position when required.
- Qualifications

- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.

- Summary
This part-time, permanent Bookkeeper and Admin Support role with the League of Friends of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital is based on-site at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for 15–20 hours per week, paid at £14.70 per hour. The post supports the smooth running of the charity shops by maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling invoices and statements, managing VAT submissions and payroll through Xero, liaising with suppliers, banks and the accountant, and covering cashier duties when required.
The role also includes general administrative support such as minute taking, arranging meetings, booking rooms, filing and communications. Candidates should have bookkeeping and accounting experience, be confident using Xero, Microsoft Office and online banking, and be comfortable with cash handling and minute taking. Strong communication, organisation, accuracy and attention to detail are essential. A DBS check is required because the role is based within a hospital setting. Benefits include
