Night Support Worker – Family Home
We are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Support Workers to provide person-centred support to a girl with autism in her family home during the night.
She can sometimes display behaviours that challenge, particularly when feeling anxious, overwhelmed or unable to communicate her needs. You will provide calm, consistent and reassuring support, helping her feel safe and comfortable throughout the night.
You will work closely with her family and the wider professional team, following her care plan, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support strategies. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference while supporting her wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.
Please note: We are currently unable to offer visa sponsorship.
What you’ll do
- Provide attentive, person-centred support throughout the night within the family home.
- Help maintain a calm, safe and predictable environment.
- Build a trusting and positive relationship while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Recognise potential triggers and early signs of anxiety, distress or dysregulation.
- Respond to behaviours that challenge using positive, low-arousal and least-restrictive approaches.
- Follow her care plan, communication plan, Positive Behaviour Support strategies and risk assessments.
- Support with personal care where required while protecting her privacy and dignity.
- Monitor her wellbeing and respond appropriately to any changes or concerns.
- Administer medication safely where required and in accordance with training and company policy.
- Complete clear and accurate daily records, medication documentation and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with her family, colleagues and other professionals.
- Maintain a safe, clean and supportive home environment.
- Work confidently and responsibly during night shifts.
What you’ll bring
- A calm, patient and compassionate approach.
- An understanding of autism and how it can affect communication, sensory processing and emotional regulation.
- Confidence in supporting someone who may display behaviours that challenge.
- The ability to remain calm and reassuring in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, professionalism and good judgement.
- Strong observation, recording and organisational skills.
- The ability to follow care plans, agreed routines and professional guidance consistently.
- Respect for the family’s home, privacy and routines.
