Farm Shop & Cafe Manager (Wednesday–Sunday)
Location: The Old Forge Cafe and Farm Shop, Berwick St. James, SP3 4UA
Hours: Full-time, Wednesday to Sunday, 37.5 hours a week - please note we would be willing to accept candidates on a job share basis.
Wednesday - Saturday: 8.30 until 4.30pm
Sunday 9.30 - 3.00pm
Salary: £25350.00 FTE

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a hands-on, enthusiastic Farm Shop Manager to lead our team and keep the shop and cafe running smoothly.
The Role
Working Wednesday to Sunday, you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the shop, ensuring excellent standards across customer service, stock, presentation, and team leadership. This is a varied, fast‑paced role ideal for someone who loves food, good coffee, people, and the countryside.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations - including opening and closing down - and ensure a high‑quality, friendly customer experience
- Key holder responsibility
- Lead, motivate, and support a small team of staff
- Updating legal documents daily such as fridge and freezer temperatures
- Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, and supplier relationships
- Maintain excellent merchandising and shop presentation
- Handle cashing up, rotas, and basic admin
- Support seasonal events and promotions such as supper nights
- Uphold food safety and hygiene standards
About You
- Previous retail or hospitality management experience essential
- Friendly, confident, and customer‑focused
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions in lieu of owners
- Passionate about local produce and rural retail
- Flexible and proactive with a positive attitude especially towards customers
- Barista experience is desirable but not essential
- Food and Hygiene Level 2 certificate desirable but not essential (a willingness to obtain it is essential however!)
