Residential Therapeutic Practitioner
M&M Supply is recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential childcare provider for a compassionate and dedicated Residential Therapeutic Practitioner to join a brand-new therapeutic children's home in Edgware.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a therapeutic service supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have experienced trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). You'll work alongside an experienced clinical and leadership team to provide high-quality, child-centred care that helps young people feel safe, valued and empowered to achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
As a Residential Therapeutic Practitioner, you'll play an essential role in delivering therapeutic care and emotional support within a nurturing residential environment. Every day is different, and you'll help children build trust, develop resilience and gain the life skills needed to thrive.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll provide consistency, encouragement and positive role modelling while supporting each young person's individual care plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Promote emotional wellbeing through therapeutic and trauma-informed practice.
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.
- Maintain clear routines, healthy boundaries and consistent expectations.
- Support young people with education, learning and personal development.
- Act as a Key Worker, implementing and reviewing individual care plans.
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational and social activities.
- Work collaboratively with families, schools, social workers and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and review meetings.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and children's home regulations are always followed.
- Continuously develop your skills through training and reflective practice.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience working within children's residential care, SEMH, trauma-informed services or similar settings.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards) is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
- Able to work 2 days on / 4 days off including two sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.
