Giffords is looking to recruit a Weighbridge Operator/Skip Office Administrator to work at our West Bromwich site. This is an integral role that plays a very real part in ensuring the smooth operation of a busy facility, welcoming internal and external HGV's to load and offload.
As a Weighbridge Operator/Skip Office Administrator, you will be responsible for assessing and booking all vehicle movements over a weighbridge. The ideal candidate will be computer literate with a strong understanding of MS Excel, and be able to follow and maintain a number of internal and external systems of work and processes.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
Weighbridge
- Weigh all vehicles in and out of site and record information
- Add new vehicle to the system as necessary
- Manually correct weighbridge tickets as necessary
- Check, sign and file all weighbridge tickets
- Barrier operation ensuring all vehicles are directed to the correct location and follow company procedure
- Report all visitors/contractors to relevant staff when coming through the barrier
- Ensuring all visiting drivers are wearing the correct health and safety sheet, PPE etc
- Transfer information onto spreadsheets on a weekly basis
- Tracking location of trailers on and off site
- Liaise with drivers and yard staff to determine where to load and off load vehicles
- Deal with all tip levy customers and take payments
- First point of contact for site visitors
- Act as a site liaison between site and internal staff and external customers
- Input vehicle and load data onto company software/spreadsheets
- Direct traffic flow and liaise with site staff to maintain a smooth operation
- On-going development and improvement of systems and processes to maintain a smooth operation
Skip
- Liaise with customers via telephone, email to accept orders
- Chase customers for missing order numbers
- Process skip orders through the computerised system
- Prepare delivery notes for drivers
- Schedule orders and record onto excel spreadsheet
- Update customer information
- Ensure all monthly standing order skips are exchanged and invoiced at the end of each month
- Update monthly skip log and distribute to managers at the end of each month
- Ensure payment has been received for proforma invoices before skip exchanges are carried out
- Record information relating to contaminated skips
- Update skip contamination log and distribute to management at the end of each month
- Monitor and update Waste Transfer information
- Report any stolen bins to management
- Chase orders as and when required
- Chase new customers
- Provide quotes and send all necessary information to prospective customers
- Check all skip delivery notes against schedule to ensure jobs are completed and signed
General
- Answer telephone calls
- Any other duties commensurate with the efficiency of the business
Experience/Competencies
- Office administration experience
- Proficient in the use of I.T
- Excellent communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Willing to work independently and within a team
The hours of work will be 36.5 hours - Monday to Thursday 8am until 4pm and 8am to 3pm on a Friday.
