About the Role
This role is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working across multiple disciplines. You will collaborate with design engineers, software developers, manufacturing teams, test engineers, project managers, suppliers, and clients to ensure that individual system components operate reliably as one complete solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate hardware, software, electrical, and control-system components into complete engineering solutions.
- Review system requirements, interface specifications, and technical documentation.
- Develop integration plans, test procedures, and verification activities.
- Conduct functional testing of integrated systems.
- Identify compatibility, interface, and communication issues between components.
- Investigate system faults and coordinate corrective actions with relevant engineering teams.
- Support prototype development and engineering validation activities.
- Configure communication interfaces, sensors, controllers, and digital systems.
- Review engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, network architectures, and system schematics.
- Assist with hardware and software configuration management.
- Support system commissioning at customer or production sites.
- Document integration results, technical issues, test findings, and engineering changes.
- Participate in design reviews and technical project meetings.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding component compatibility and technical requirements.
- Support system upgrades and modifications throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.
- Assist with root-cause analysis of recurring technical failures.
- Support verification and validation activities against agreed requirements.
- Maintain accurate technical records and configuration documentation.
- Ensure integration work follows relevant safety and quality procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 2–4 years of experience in systems engineering, integration engineering, electronics, automation, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.
- A degree or recognised qualification in systems engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechatronics, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of multidisciplinary engineering systems.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications and system requirements.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Experience supporting system testing, verification, or commissioning activities.
- Good understanding of hardware and software interfaces.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to investigate complex technical issues across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, software, and project teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and configuration control.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage several technical tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working within aerospace, rail, automotive, energy, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of CAN bus, Modbus, Ethernet, or other industrial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, or comparable engineering tools.
- Experience with requirements-management tools such as IBM DOORS.
- Knowledge of systems-engineering lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with verification and validation methodologies.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers or industrial control systems.
- Understanding of functional safety and risk-management principles.
- Experience working with prototypes and test environments.
- Knowledge of configuration and change-management processes.
- Familiarity with MBSE or SysML is advantageous.

Pay: £42,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
