Job Summary
We are seeking a practical and reliable Plant Maintenance & Delivery Operative to take care of our screed pump fleet and keep it moving between our yard and our sites. In this hands-on role, you will maintain, clean and repair our 15 screed pumps, deliver them to construction sites and collect them on completion, and keep our stock of spare parts topped up. Full training will be given on the screed pumps, so a mechanical background is helpful but not essential — we are just as interested in someone who is organised, dependable and happy getting stuck in. Join a friendly, growing contractor where you will be trusted to run the fleet and manage your own workload.
Responsibilities
- Clean out screed pumps thoroughly after use and keep every machine site-ready.
- Carry out routine servicing and replace wear parts such as seals, hoses and couplings.
- Deliver screed pumps to construction sites and collect them once the job is finished.
- Inspect and test machines before they leave the yard and check them back in on return.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of spare parts and consumables, reordering as needed.
- Keep the yard and plant area clean, tidy and safe to work in.
- Keep simple, accurate records of servicing, deliveries, collections and parts used.
- Report faults and recurring issues so machines can be repaired before they cause site delays.
Experience
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Practical, hands-on mechanical aptitude — experience with plant, agricultural, automotive or similar machinery is a strong advantage.
- Well organised and self-motivated, with the reliability to manage your own workload and keep the fleet on schedule.
- Comfortable working on construction sites and following site health and safety requirements.
- Towing experience or B+E entitlement is desirable — support or training can be provided for the right candidate.
- CSCS card is an advantage, and we can help you obtain one.
- Forklift or telehandler ticket is an advantage but not essential.
- No screed pump experience needed — full training on our machines will be given.
Why join us
This is a varied role with a genuine mix of workshop, yard and on-the-road work — no two days are the same. You will take real ownership of our fleet, with the training and support to become our in-house expert on the machines, in a stable, year-round position with a growing local contractor.
