Breezy Knees Gardens is a 25 acre garden and plant nursery on the outskirts of York. Our gardens are appreciated by visitors and "experts" alike: Monty Don recently described the gardens as "beautiful" and Adam Frost found our plant collection "incredible" when he visited for Gardener's World.
Job Summary
We are seeking a gardener to join our team working three days per week (across Tues-Fri). Please note, due to ground and weather conditions, we take an extended winter break each year from late November to early February.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our gardens, ensuring plants are healthy, vibrant, and well-cared-for. Your passion for gardening and horticulture will help create stunning outdoor environments that delight our visitors.
Duties
- Use hand tools and power tools to plant, prune, weed, and maintain garden beds and landscapes
- Watering our nurseries and garden beds
- Perform regular garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, mulching, and fertilising
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe by following proper safety procedures
- Support seasonal planting projects and landscape redesigns as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in gardening
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and gardening techniques
- Growing experience with a variety of plants and understanding of plant care requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent physical stamina for standing, bending, digging, and lifting throughout the day
- A proactive attitude with a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces
