Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency, presentation, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Lead food preparation activities, including ingredient selection, portioning, and cooking techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Train new team members on food safety procedures, cooking techniques, and customer service standards.
- Monitor food quality during service periods and make adjustments as necessary to uphold standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Demonstrable supervising experience with team management capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, cooking methods, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
- Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and team development.
- Good communication skills to coordinate efficiently with team members and front-of-house staff.
- Previous experience in restaurant service or catering is highly desirable.
