Currently, we are accepting applications for the temporary post of Lecturer in Applied Informatics to provide essential teaching support for our information science course offerings over the next 23-month period.
The Role:
As Lecturer in Applied Informatics, you will be in an excellent position to use your blend of teaching and research experience, to provide support for the delivery of our Information Science/Applied Informatics modules.
The post will provide you with the opportunity to use your excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills to engage and inspire our students, while monitoring their performance and working with our Academic Skills colleagues and other University services to support their progress.
You will be given the remit to undertake the assessment of these students, using assessment instruments provided, and under the guidance of experienced staff, working collegiately to help deliver an excellent learning and teaching experience for all involved.
There will also be the opportunity to conduct research in a relevant area related to Applied Informatics and to work with other academics doing research in this area.
Further to this, you will be mentored and guided by Edinburgh Napier staff in the delivery of modules, using pre-existing course delivery plans and materials. This will give you the opportunity to provide essential support for our Information Science course offerings (Security Audit and Compliance, Business Intelligence and Reporting) and service-related support such as program leadership for BSc ITMB (Graduate Apprentice) and other roles (student supervisions, personal development tutor).
Your expertise in the use of tools such as Power BI Dashboard and data visualization will serve you well as you assist students in navigating these packages to help facilitate their understanding of information science.
This position may be particularly suitable for you if you are an early career or established academic.
What we will need from you:

A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline.
Evidence of a professional academic and research profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development.
Experience of delivering high quality teaching/learning.
Commitment to face-to-face teaching on-campus, including during the summer.
Ability to communicate accurately and fluently at a high level of English proficiency.
Ability to respond sensitively to students with different needs and backgrounds.
