Purpose and Scope of the Role
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented scientist to join our GLP analytical team in Bedford. This is a full-time, permanent role supporting the delivery of regulated analytical studies through routine laboratory activities, study sample preparation, accurate record keeping and compliance with Good Laboratory Practice standards.
You will receive, record, label, store and track study samples, prepare reagents, standards and quality control samples, and conduct routine laboratory procedures with a high degree of accuracy. You will also operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, support basic troubleshooting, process analytical results for entry into data spreadsheets, and work collaboratively with analysts, study directors and quality assurance personnel.
This role is ideally suited to someone with at least two years’ commercial laboratory experience who is looking to further develop their analytical skills within a regulated laboratory environment.
Your Impact in this Position
You will play an important role in ensuring regulated studies are delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with study protocols, SOPs and GLP requirements. You will help maintain high-quality laboratory records, support data completeness and compliance, and assist in the investigation of laboratory deviations and non-conformances.
As you develop, you may support method validation, method transfer and study activities, including sample analysis by LC-MS/MS, GC-MS or other analytical platforms. Core Capabilities
GLP Laboratory Practice
- Perform sample preparation, extraction and routine laboratory activities in accordance with study protocols, SOPs and GLP requirements.
Sample and Data Management
- Receive, record, label, store and track study samples, process analytical results and maintain accurate, contemporaneous records.
Analytical Equipment and Techniques
- Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, prepare reagents and standards, and support sample analysis using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS or other platforms.
Quality, Compliance and Safety
- Review laboratory data and documentation, support deviation investigations, maintain housekeeping standards and follow health and safety requirements.
Collaboration and Organisation
- Work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines and communicating effectively with laboratory, study and quality assurance colleagues.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
You will have a BSc degree, or equivalent, in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline, with a minimum of two years’ commercial laboratory experience, preferably within a GxP environment. You will have experience following laboratory procedures, maintaining accurate scientific records, strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of GLP, hands-on sample preparation and extraction techniques, and familiarity with LC-MS/MS, HPLC, GC or similar platforms would be desirable.
Work Patterns and Location
This is a full-time, permanent role based at Tetra Tech’s Bedford laboratory working Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 17:00. #LI-SY1 #Laboratories
