Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Class 1 HGV Driver specializing in Skip Wagons to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy goods vehicles to deliver and collect waste and recycling materials using skip wagons. Your expertise in commercial driving, coupled with your commitment to safety and efficiency, will ensure smooth operations across multiple sites. Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) skip wagons for waste collection and disposal tasks
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are met and report any issues promptly
- Load, unload, and secure waste containers efficiently while adhering to health and safety regulations
- Follow scheduled routes and delivery timelines, maintaining punctuality and reliability throughout the day
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle documentation, and compliance records in line with company policies
- Adhere strictly to road traffic laws, environmental regulations, and company safety protocols at all times
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, specifically with Skip Wagons or similar waste collection vehicles
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV license with a clean driving record
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance checks, and road safety regulations
- Experience with skips (hooks and chains) preferred
- Experience driving rigids and drawbar trailers preferred
- Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and basic troubleshooting skills
- Flexibility with start times and working hours
