We are seeking a motivated and skilled Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester to join our dynamic automotive team. As an MOT Tester, you will also conduct official Ministry of Transport (MOT) inspections to certify vehicles meet legal safety standards. Duties
- Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics using mechanical knowledge and specialized tools to identify issues accurately.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks including engine work, brake replacements, suspension repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle components with precision.
- Conduct thorough MOT inspections in accordance with legal standards, ensuring vehicles pass or identifying necessary repairs for certification.
- Assist customers by explaining repair needs clearly and providing professional recommendations for ongoing vehicle care.
- Lift heavy components safely using proper techniques and equipment to prevent injury while handling parts during repairs.
- Maintain detailed records of all services performed, parts used, and inspection results to ensure transparency and compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and socket sets; familiarity with power tools is a plus.
- Experience performing MOT testing or certification as an authorized tester is highly desirable; training can be provided if needed.
- Ability to lift heavy parts or equipment safely while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues effectively.
- Good communication skills for explaining technical information clearly to customers and team members.
