Job Title: Warehouse Operative – Returns

Job Purpose
As a Returns Warehouse Operative, you will play a crucial role in our reverse logistics network. You will be responsible for handling returned stock from start to finish—from the moment it arrives at the loading bay to the point it is ready for resale. This is a dynamic, multi-skilled role where you will rotate across various departments, including Goods In, Product Inspection, Technical Testing, and Merchandising/Repackaging.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on business needs and rotation, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Goods In & Receiving

Unloading inbound returns and processing them efficiently into the warehouse.

Checking physical inventory against delivery manifests and supplier documentation to ensure accuracy.

Utilising warehouse management systems (WMS) to scan, log, and track items.

Safely relocating stock to designated processing or storage areas using appropriate manual handling equipment.
2. Processing & Cosmetic Grading

Unpacking and conducting thorough visual inspections of a diverse range of products (including white goods/appliances, air conditioning units, bathroom fixtures, and furniture).

Identifying, documenting, and confirming customer faults or transit damage.

Evaluating and assigning accurate cosmetic grades to products based on company guidelines.
3. Product Testing

Setting up and conducting functional testing on electrical and mechanical items to diagnose or confirm faults.

Following safety protocols and testing checklists to ensure products meet operational standards.

Logging test outcomes and technical findings into the internal database.
4. Repackaging & Merchandising

Taking clear, high-quality photographs of processed goods for resale and online listings.

Ensuring items are thoroughly cleaned, complete with all necessary parts/accessories, and safely repackaged.

Preparing and palletizing items for resale, ensuring they are presentable and secure for transit.
Skills and Experience Required

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred.

Comfortable using scanning equipment, computers, or digital cameras to log data.

High level of accuracy when checking manifests, spot-checking items for minor defects, and grading stock.

Ability to handle heavy, bulky items safely (appliances, furniture) adhering to manual handling guidelines.

A positive attitude with the willingness to learn new skills and move between different teams as required.
