Reports to: Operations Manager
Objective:
- Have the knowledge and ability to accurately diagnose faults using their own experience and diagnostic tools and carry out the mechanical repair tasks required on a variety of vehicles.
- Take a lead role in providing training to team members to develop skills, behaviour and problem solving techniques.
Job Functions:
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Conduct and record incoming inspections of all vehicles to identify any issues and faults that need attention.
- Conduct and record outgoing inspections of all vehicles to ensure they comply with all legal requirements and meet our quality standards.
- Accurately diagnose faults using the latest diagnostics computers as well as manual tools.
- To complete mechanical repairs in line with approved methods.
- Strip down and rebuild engines as required.
- To work productively ensuring repairs are completed within the deadline and work prioritised to achieve maximum efficiency.
- To highlight when repairs are not possible, or an alternative solution is required.
- To have a high attention to detail and to escalate where repairs could be completed more cost effectively.
- To maintain a high level of housekeeping and cleanliness within workspaces.
- To ensure standard operating procedures are rigorously followed and documentation completed accurately.
- Recommend changes and improvement opportunities to management to improve quality and productivity.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
- Adhere to health and safety rules and regulations at all times.
- Comply with PPE requirements for the relevant work area and task.
- Attend and contribute to all daily meetings as required by management.
- Follow established company rules and regulations and maintain quality standards.
- Proceed with minimum supervision.
- To be adaptable and flexible when overtime is required.
- Change tyres including balancing and fitting.
- Be flexible to work at two separate sites as needed on a day by day basis.
- Assist in maintaining and managing workload.
- Be flexible to react to changing daily requirements at times for example getting a vehicle ready for a customer viewing.
- Provide daily and weekly status updates to management.
Qualifications:
- Experienced Level 3 Mechanical Technician.
Experience and Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a professional repair workshop
- Ability to read, understand and follow repair procedures without assistance.
- Team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonnel communication skills.
- Have the ability and confidence to guide junior colleagues.
- Able to supervise whilst completing own tasks and objectives.
- Have an understanding of ‘5S’, ‘8 wastes’ and other problem solving techniques.
Physical Demands:
- Manual handling and hands on work throughout the shift.
Workplace Environment:
- Main Site:Clean enclosed warehouse sharing site with car dealership.
- Secondary site: Outdoors public facing forecourt.
Pay: £28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
