Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy bar. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and extensive knowledge of food and beverage service. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food safety standards, and managing the overall atmosphere of the establishment. The successful applicant will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment while ensuring operational efficiency and high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the bar team, including bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
- Oversee food preparation and ensure all culinary standards are met, including cooking and food safety protocols.
- Manage daily operations of the bar, including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to food production, serving, and alcohol licensing.
- Develop and implement innovative drink menus whilst maintaining consistency in quality.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with patrons and resolving any issues promptly.
- Supervise training programmes for new staff members, including hospitality skills, food safety, and service standards.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to maximise revenue while controlling costs.
- Organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours while maintaining labour efficiency.
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere that promotes guest satisfaction and repeat business.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality management, preferably within a bar or similar setting.
- Strong supervisory experience with team management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary practices.
- Experience in food safety standards and food production processes.
- Familiarity with hospitality operations such as serving drinks, managing reservations, and customer engagement.
- Previous experience in hotel or restaurant environments is highly desirable.
- Barista experience is considered an asset due to the specialised beverage knowledge required.
- Leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of service quality.
