Wood is looking for experienced a Construction Supervisor/Engineer to support the successful delivery of a long-term EPCm framework contract at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Ware, Hertfordshire.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a construction professional who thrive in a fast-paced project environment and enjoy taking ownership of site delivery. You'll play a key role in safely coordinating contractors, driving construction progress, influencing project execution, and supporting projects through construction, commissioning and handover.
Working within a live pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of CAPEX projects ranging from plant modifications and infrastructure upgrades to new installations, facility improvements, decommissioning and strategic investment programmes.
Projects will span a broad range of disciplines, providing varied and engaging work across:
- Mechanical equipment and package installations
- Piping and process systems
- Electrical power and distribution systems
- Instrumentation and control systems
- Civil and structural works
- Architectural and building modifications
- Temporary works
- Facilities upgrades and utility projects
- Demolition, decommissioning and disinvestment projects
- Commissioning, start-up and operational readiness activities

What We're Looking For
We are seeking proactive construction professionals who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience delivering construction projects within pharmaceutical, manufacturing, chemical, process, energy or other highly regulated industrial environments.
- Strong contractor management and site supervision capabilities.
- Experience leading construction activities safely within live operational facilities.
- Excellent understanding of construction execution, planning and coordination.
- Ability to monitor progress, manage priorities and deliver against project schedules.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Ability to identify, assess and mitigate construction and delivery risks.
- Experience working within EPC, EPCm or client-led project environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills.
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
Essential Qualifications & Certifications
- ONC/HNC in an Engineering or Construction-related discipline, or equivalent site-based construction experience.
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification/training.
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS Card.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and construction duty holder responsibilities.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Candidates with any of the following will be particularly attractive:
- Experience working within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environments.
- Experience delivering CAPEX projects within pharmaceutical or life sciences facilities.
- Degree-qualified in an Engineering or Construction-related discipline.
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Management or equivalent.
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) qualification.
- Familiarity with commissioning, completions and handover management systems.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary construction scopes including mechanical, piping, electrical and building works.
- Knowledge of client Permit-to-Work systems and established Safe Systems of Work.
- Experience supporting shutdown, brownfield, decommissioning or disinvestment projects.
