OVERVIEW:
The Mechanical Assistant will work alongside the Mechanical Supervisor to deliver tasks to the highest standards and provide best-in-class service quality to clients. The role will support all mechanical activities within the Company’s facilities, maintaining and servicing all Company equipment, and recommending innovations to drive continuous improvement.
The role also supports the Electrical team and Workshop Foreman in the repair, maintenance and servicing of equipment, pre-job loading out of equipment, back-load inventories, and other workshop activities as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following):
- To service, maintain & repair all Company equipment to the highest standards, including yard equipment and HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pumps.
- To assist and carry out repairs on centrifugal pump ends and replacing component parts as necessary.
- To prepare and carry out 3rd Party Release Inspections to allow HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pumps to be successfully mobilised offshore.
- To gain broad and effective knowledge of all Mechanical shut-downs, such as Overspeed, Gas shutdown and Emergency stops.
- To keep calibration/safety systems on units up to date and filed accordingly.
- The accurate and timely completion of documentation according to relevant procedures i.e. maintenance sheets, certification, and equipment request forms.
- To assist Engineering and Operations team with technical and experience input.
- Support the Base Mechanic in monitoring and evaluating the services and products received from 3rd parties and suppliers.
- To become familiar with the use of all operations and parts manuals for the HYDRO-BOOST Diesel Pump fleet.
- Assist in procurement for the Mechanical Department.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the Mechanical Bay and stores.
- Responsible for the general housekeeping, good order and appearance of the Mechanical Bay.
- Attend other work sites when required.
- Included in workshop on-call rota.
- Attend daily toolbox talks
- Implement cost and time saving ideas for maintenance and equipment preparation.
Qualifications/Education:
- Must be numerate and literate to Secondary School Education level.
- Be computer-literate to beginner’s level in MS Word, Excel and Outlook Email packages.

Knowledge & Experience:
Previous experience in warehousing and equipment maintenance and servicing is required, as well as experience of pressure testing, valves and fittings. Forklift Truck operation certification preferred but not essential.
