PT Cyber is a managed IT and cyber security provider working exclusively with schools and education trusts across Merseyside and the North West. We're a small, close-knit team looking for an experienced IT engineer to take ownership of a defined portfolio of school clients on a part-time basis.
This is a hands-on role. You will be the person our schools call when something goes wrong — and the person who fixes it. You'll be trusted to make decisions and own outcomes, not hand tickets up a chain. If you want flexibility without sacrificing meaningful, skilled work, this is worth a look.
THE ROLE
You'll cover 2 to 3 days per week across a portfolio of school clients in Liverpool and Merseyside — a mix of scheduled onsite visits and remote support. Days and hours are flexible by agreement. You'll work closely with the director but operate independently day to day.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Visiting client schools on agreed days — onsite presence is a core part of this role
- Owning server, backup, and AV management for your schools
- Responding to and resolving support tickets via our PSA platform
- Managing Microsoft 365 tenants, Azure AD / Entra ID, and Intune MDM
- Maintaining and troubleshooting network infrastructure — switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewalls
- Handling cyber security incidents and supporting Cyber Essentials compliance
- Building strong relationships with school staff, headteachers, and business managers
- Earning commission on any new contracts you bring in
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Solid Windows Server experience — administration, patching, backup, and fault resolution
- Strong Microsoft 365 and Azure AD / Entra ID skills
- Networking fundamentals — VLANs, switches, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP
- Endpoint management experience — Intune, Group Policy, or similar
- A genuine interest in cyber security — incidents, patching, AV, compliance
- Confident communicator — you'll be dealing with non-technical school staff every day
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Education sector experience is a strong advantage but not essential
WHAT WE OFFER
- £28,000 – £40,000 FTE (pro-rated to agreed hours) depending on experience
