About the role:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Multi-Skilled Carpenter to join our Estates team. You will provide an in-house carpentry and joinery service across the College estate, carrying out a range of planned and reactive maintenance works, including door sets, ironmongery and fire door repairs.
The role also involves painting, decorating and general making-good works as part of repair and refurbishment projects. Working across multiple trade disciplines, you will support planned preventative maintenance and compliance programmes, helping to ensure the College provides a safe, well-maintained and welcoming environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carpentry and Joinery (Core Trade): Undertake a wide range of carpentry and joinery repairs, installations and refurbishments, including doors, fire doors, furniture and internal building fabric.
- General Building Fabric and Repairs: Carry out planned and reactive repairs to College buildings and external areas, while supporting minor projects, room moves and event set-ups.
- Painting and Decorating:Deliver high-quality painting, decorating and making-good works to maintain and enhance the appearance of College facilities.
- Basic Electrical Work:Carry out basic electrical maintenance tasks within authorised competency levels, including lighting and accessory replacements and PAT testing where qualified.Planned
- Preventative Maintenance and Statutory Support:Support the delivery of planned maintenance and compliance activities, helping to ensure College facilities remain safe, operational and compliant.
- Health, Safety and Safeguarding:Work in accordance with all health, safety and safeguarding requirements, maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, visitors and contractors.
- Contractors, Materials and Records: Support contractor management, maintain materials and stock, and ensure accurate recording of maintenance activities and building condition information.
