As we continue to grow and develop our engineering team, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded Junior Audio Visual Engineer to join us.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career who has a genuine interest in technology and wants to develop practical engineering skills within the audio visual industry.
The Role
As a Junior Audio Visual Engineer, you will work alongside our experienced engineers, assisting with the installation, configuration and commissioning of audio visual and smart home systems.
You don't need previous AV experience. We're looking for someone who is practical, technically minded, enthusiastic about technology and keen to learn.
You will initially assist our engineers across a wide range of installation work, developing your skills and knowledge through hands-on experience. As your experience and confidence grow, you will take on more responsibility, with the opportunity to progress into a full Audio Visual Engineer role when you are ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of audio visual and smart home systems, including Control4 systems, networks and Wi-Fi, CCTV, intercoms, lighting control, shading/blind systems, media spaces
- Assist with mounting TVs, speakers and other AV equipment
- Learn to terminate data cables and carry out structured cabling work
- Assist with building, installing and dressing equipment racks
- Assist with installing and configuring audio visual equipment
- Learn to configure and maintain network equipment
- Learn to program Control4 smart home systems
- Assist with testing, commissioning and fault-finding systems
- Work as part of an engineering team and follow instructions from experienced engineers
- Develop knowledge of AV equipment and installation techniques
- Represent the company professionally at all times
- Ensure customers' homes and belongings are treated with care and respect
Required Skills & Experience
- No previous AV experience required
- Technically minded with a genuine interest in technology
- Practical and willing to get hands-on
- Enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn
- Good attention to detail
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Comfortable working in high-end residential environments
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites
- Comfortable working on ladders and handling equipment such as TVs, amplifiers and speakers
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience with technology, electronics, IT, networking or AV
- An interest in smart homes or audio visual technology
- Basic understanding of networking
- Any relevant technical or practical experience
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, both on-site and in the workshop
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments before commencing work
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required
- Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly
- Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are maintained in safe working order
- Follow site-specific Health & Safety requirements and client protocols
- Work safely when using ladders and access equipment
- Be physically capable of safely lifting and handling equipment such as TVs, amplifiers and speakers
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £22600-£27000 per annum, depending on experience
