Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to support our Head Chef and lead the busy kitchen on his days off. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, covering chef's days off (Monday and Tuesday), and maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food and hospitality within a vibrant country pub environment. Our Sous Chef will play a vital role in maintaining exceptional food standards and delivering memorable dining experiences for our guests.
Duties
- Manage daily kitchen operations on Chef's days off, preparing dishes to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Prepare a variety of dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, appearance, and portion control. Meeting company KPIs for gross profit and wastage whilst simultaneously offering an ever evolving range of menu options and daily specials, suited to the season.
- Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory levels.
- Ensure food safety and hygiene regulations are exceeded across all kitchen activities.
- Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a busy gastro pub, restaurant or similar hospitality setting
- Good knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Strong understanding of food production processes and culinary techniques
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and management seamlessly
