Looking for a fulfilling role in a vital service? We are seeking a full-time Switchboard Operator to join the team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
You will play a crucial role in connecting callers to the right departments and services, handling approximately 3,000+ calls each day. As the first point of contact for many callers, you will assist with both internal and external enquiries, including emergency calls, helping to ensure the smooth operation of a busy hospital environment.
Rolling 8-week rota incorporating the following shift patterns:
- 06:00-14:00
- 14:00-22:00
- 22:00-06:00
- 08:00-16:00
The Role
- Answer internal and external calls within agreed KPI and SLA targets
- Provide efficient, courteous, and helpful support to callers
- Operate the internal bleep system
- Proactively maintain the computer database of hospital personnel, departments, and telephone numbers
- Undertake clerical duties as required to support the efficient running of the service and assist with the training of new team members when required
- Work public and bank holidays where your shift pattern falls on these days, as the department operates 24/7, 365 days a year
About You
- Good communication and clerical skills
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Able to cope well under pressure
- Previous experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided
