You will support the Governance, Risk, Assurance and Improvement (GRAI) team by providing high-quality data analysis, insight, and reporting. The role focuses on ensuring data accuracy, identifying trends and recurring issues, and supporting the monitoring of risk and control effectiveness to enable informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the organisation.
What you'll do:
- Analyse and present clear, data-driven insights to support understanding of organisational risk exposure, emerging themes and areas for improvement.
- Review risk, control, and performance data to support a consistent and evidence-based view of risk across the organisation.
- Use multiple operational data sources (including audit outputs, investigations, and operational inputs) to identify root causes and systemic risks.
- Support the identification of control weaknesses, recurring issues, and potential root causes through data analysis.
- Provide timely and relevant analysis to support risk and assurance-informed discussions and decision-making within GRAI.
- Support the prioritisation and planning of assurance and improvement activities by providing data and insight.
- Assist in identifying gaps in assurance coverage and areas where additional focus may be required.
- Track and assess the effectiveness of actions using data to ensure issues are addressed and outcomes are achieved.
- Produce clear, structured reports and data visualisations to support governance discussions.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records of analysis, outputs, and reporting
What you'll have:
Essential
- Experience of analysing data and generating clear, meaningful insights
- Experience of using AI-assisted tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot) to analyse data, generate insights, or produce reports from multiple data sources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI)
- Good understanding of risk, assurance, or audit concepts
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly (written and verbal)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organise and manage data and information effectively
Desirable
- Experience working within governance, risk, assurance, or audit functions
- Knowledge of railway operations
