Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Butcher to join our team. The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in food preparation, with a passion for delivering high-quality products. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for processing various types of meat, ensuring food safety standards are met, and contributing to the overall success of our butchery shop operations. This role also includes front of counter serving of our customers so you must have a positive upbeat style!
Working hours are 5 days per week on a one week rota:
Wednesday 9:00am-4:00pm
Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm
Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Saturday 11:00am-5:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-4:00pm
Responsibilities
- Breaking down carcasses into primals, portioning and cutting.
- Sausage, bacon and stir fry production
- Slicing and packing produce
- Setting up counter displays - cutting and displaying meat to a high standard
- Working efficiently through a daily list either on your own or as a team
- Correctly preparing and store meat to ensure the best quality produce
- Delivering a high standard of customer service to all our customers
- Making sure all paperwork such as temperature and cooking logs is completed, and products are correctly labelled including for allergens. Promote a culture of prioritising food hygiene, health and safety and allergen advice/management
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
- Happily take on new duties as the needs of the business grow
Requirements
- Effectively communicates with other staff and management
- Be able to work safely and tidily in a busy environment, and effectively work in stressful situations.
- Exceptional customer service skills and butchery knowledge to be able to effectively advise customers on the best cuts of meat, cooking guidelines and allergen information
- Be physically fit enough to lift carcasses and be on your feet all day
- Be able to use a till system – training will be provided
- Be a team player and have a solution purposed mind set
- Proof of ability to work in the UK
- 2 Excellent previous employer references
