About the Practice
We are a friendly and dedicated GP practice team supporting approximately 14,000 patients across West Devon.
Our team includes doctors, nurses, dispensers, allied healthcare professionals, receptionists and administrative staff, who work together to provide high-quality and compassionate care to our local community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised apprentice to join our reception and administration team. This is a varied role that will provide experience across different areas of the practice while completing a Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Main Duties
- Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries.
- Book, amend and cancel patient appointments.
- Register new patients and accurately update patient records.
- Signpost patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional.
- Process emails, letters and other incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Scan, file and maintain electronic patient records.
- Support prescription and document processing.
- Complete general administrative tasks for clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Assist with audits, reports and other operational activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow data protection requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the smooth running of the practice.

- Reception, telephone and appointment management.

- Confidentiality, data protection and information governance.
- Safeguarding adults and children.
- Health and safety, fire safety and infection prevention and control.
- Administrative processes, correspondence and document management.
- NHS and primary care services.
- Role-specific and mandatory e-learning.
You will also receive regular support and reviews from an allocated supervisor, with opportunities to gain experience across reception, administration and operational support.
