We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic part-time or full-time Rehabilitation Assistant to join our community service at Peartree House Rehabilitation, Southampton. Experience in working in neurorehabilitation or community support is desirable but not essential as full training is provided.
This is a community post where you will be travelling to our client's homes to carry out rehabilitation programmes as set by our experienced MDT department. This role bridges the gap between Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant, and will give budding therapists a chance for real hands on experience. The ideal candidate would be adaptable, compassionate, understanding, empathetic, and autonomous but with good team skills and patience. You must have a caring attitude, an interest in helping others and be keen to learn. You will have good time management skills and have an interest in self and team development.
To make sure that you're fully confident in your role you will be guided through our competency programme and have the opportunity to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team with extensive knowledge and experience to be gained.
The role is hands-on, assisting the trained physiotherapist and occupational therapist in active and slow stream rehabilitation following brain injury. This will include continuing with rehabilitative activities and following instructions left by the main physiotherapist and occupational therapist in the client's homes. Some homes can be up to 2 hours away from Southampton.
Provision of activities is also a key part of the role. Some duties will include: personal care morning programmes; assisting clients on the use of mobility aids; providing activities in-house & in the community; undertaking rehabilitation in activities of living; accessing the community; supporting clients to complete their upper limb exercise programmes; maintaining and cleaning equipment; record keeping; regularly reporting back to Occupational Therapists, general administration and computer tasks.
The hours for this role are 8am until 4pm, Monday to Friday for a guaranteed 38 hours a week. When weekends are required, this will be paid at £14 an hour.
Please note that if taking the role part time, this will be on chosen days within the core operating hours of 8 - 4 Monday - Friday.
You must be a driver and have a clean licence.
