Why its ‘Godda Be Roddas’
Rodda's is Cornwall's iconic family creamery, famous for our clotted cream and dairy products enjoyed across the UK and beyond.
We are looking for a Quality Assurance / Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Assurance team and help protect the quality and safety of every product that leaves our site. This is first and foremost a quality assurance role, with a strong focus on documentation, product release, and getting things right on paper as well as on the line – supported by hands-on chemical testing in our on-site laboratory. You will be a visible QA presence on the production floor as well as in the lab.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready QA records and documentation, including quality checks, test results, and product release paperwork.
- Manage the hold and release process: confirming the status of held product, ensuring only conforming product is released for despatch, and maintaining a complete audit trail.
- Raise, track, and follow up corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) arising from non-conformances, audits, and customer complaints, chasing actions through to close-out.
- Support investigations into non-conforming product and customer complaints, gathering records and evidence from the production floor.
- Carry out routine chemical testing of milk, cream, and dairy products in our on-site laboratory (e.g. fat, moisture, titratable acidity, freezing point), recording and reporting results accurately.
- Complete quality and weight checks on the production lines and verify compliance with specifications and food safety standards (BRCGS, HACCP, GMP).
- Support the QA Manager with audits, traceability exercises, and continuous improvement projects.
About you
- Highly organised, precise, and detail-oriented – comfortable managing paperwork and records to an auditable standard.
- Confident communicator, able to work with production, engineering, and technical teams and to challenge constructively when standards are not met.
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with quality management systems an advantage.
- Experience in food manufacturing, laboratory work, or a quality role is desirable but not essential – full training will be given.
What we offer
- The chance to join a much-loved Cornish family business with a genuine commitment to quality.
- Full training, development, and support from an experienced QA team.
