Butchery Production Team Leader
Location: Boston, Lincolnshire
Salary: £15.33 per hour + £16.33 per hour overtime rate
Hours: 40 per week, Any 5 days from 6, Sunday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
Pilgrim Foodservice is looking for an experienced Production Team Leader to join our butchery team in Boston.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for heading up the Processing Room team and ensuring our value-added meat products are produced safely, accurately and to the highest standard.
You will lead the team on shift, support daily production, maintain food safety and hygiene standards, manage stock movement, and help ensure customer orders are completed on time and in full.
Our Processing Room produces a range of value-added products including burgers, sausages, koftas, pigs in blankets and turkey ballottines.
Please note: this role involves working with fresh meat products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Processing Room team and ensure the effective running of the shift
- Produce value-added meat products to agreed standards and specifications
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and housekeeping
- Complete and check required paperwork and procedures
- Report any food safety, quality or legality concerns to the Butchery Manager
- Support stock control, including freezer stock and FIFO processes
- Ensure stock is packed and transferred to the warehouse in a timely manner
- Check forward orders and prepare for the following day’s production
- Support weekly rotas, including holiday and absence cover
- Train new starters and trainee butchers where required
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong butchery, food production or processing room experience who is confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
You will need to be organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of the shift.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in either butchery, meat processing or chilled food production
- Experience leading, supervising or training a team
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Good knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Some knowledge of HACCP
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Confident problem solver with a practical, hands-on approach
- Able to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Reliable, accountable and willing to support the wider team
