We are currently recruiting for a reliable and professional Class 2 Driver (LGV Category C) to join our growing transport team based in Biggleswade.
This is a full-time, permanent position operating within a busy pallet network environment, carrying out deliveries and collections of palletised freight. The role offers consistent weekday hours, competitive pay, and the opportunity to join a supportive and well-established team.
The successful candidate will be safety-focused, customer-oriented, and capable of managing a varied daily workload while maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pallet network deliveries and collections in a safe and efficient manner.
- Safely operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in accordance with all legal and company requirements.
- Complete daily vehicle walkaround checks and report any defects promptly.
- Use a tail lift to load and unload palletised freight safely.
- Some deliveries and collections may require the use of an electric pallet truck to manoeuvre palletised goods.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed within agreed service levels.
- Complete electronic Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation accurately.
- Use company-approved smartphone applications for POD completion, vehicle checks, and transport-related tasks.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and records throughout the working day.
- Provide a professional and courteous service to customers at all times.
- Adhere to Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and all road transport legislation.
Essential Requirements
- Valid LGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous Class 2 driving experience is essential.
- Experience operating vehicles fitted with tail lifts.
- Ability and willingness to use an electric pallet truck when required.
- Good knowledge of road transport regulations and driver compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious approach to work.
- Own smartphone required for electronic POD completion, vehicle checks, and transport applications.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous pallet network delivery experience.
- Experience in multi-drop distribution.
- Good geographical knowledge of Bedfordshire and surrounding counties.
