The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll work from a fully stocked company vehicle, visiting customer sites to service, maintain and repair a wide range of forklift trucks and access equipment.
No two days are the same—you'll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, complete planned maintenance and help keep our customers' equipment operating safely and efficiently. You'll report directly to the Service Manager and play a key role in delivering the high standards of service our customers expect.
What You'll Be Doing
- Service, repair and diagnose faults on electrical and mechanical forklift trucks and access equipment
- Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs at customer sites
- Work safely on electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Operate forklift trucks for testing, fault-finding and repair purposes
- Minimise customer downtime by delivering efficient, high-quality repairs
- Order parts and process manufacturer warranty claims in line with company procedures
- Maintain accurate service records and complete required paperwork
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and industry best practices
- Work independently while also supporting colleagues when required
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience as a Forklift Engineer or in a similar field service role (Plant Fitter, Plant Engineer, HGV/Vehicle Mechanic, Access Equipment Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, REME or similar)
- Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A full UK driving licence
- A professional, reliable and positive attitude
Desirable (but not essential):
- Welding or fabrication experience
What We Offer
- Competitive basic salary from £31,000, with higher starting salaries available for experienced engineers. On-target earnings (OTE) around £40,000, depending on experience, overtime and call-out participation
