Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family run business owned and run by the Smith family since 1982. Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.
Join our team as a Plant Operator and play a key role in delivering projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. We're looking for an experienced and safety-conscious individual with experience operating plant and machinery within a construction or quarrying environment.

Operating a variety of plant and equipment in line with your qualifications and competency level.
Carrying out daily safety checks and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements.
Performing routine cleaning, greasing and basic maintenance of plant and machinery.
Working closely with site supervisors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures.
Recording plant inspections, maintenance checks and timesheets accurately.
Reporting accidents, incidents, near misses and equipment faults promptly.
Wearing and maintaining the appropriate PPE at all times.
Experience operating construction plant and equipment.
A strong commitment to health and safety.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions effectively.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Reliable, hardworking and proactive approach to work.
