Hitchin | £30,000 per year | Full-Time, Hands-On Role
Ronan’s Coffee & Bistro is looking for an experienced, energetic and reliable Supervisor to play a key role in the day-to-day running of the business.
This is a very hands-on position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the venue, whether working alongside other team members or independently during quieter periods.
You will need to be confident serving customers, preparing drinks and coffee, supporting food service, opening and closing the premises and ensuring that Ronan’s continues to operate to a high standard throughout your shift.
The Role
Working closely with the owners and wider team, your responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility for the venue during your shifts
- Supervising and supporting other team members when working together
- Working independently and confidently when scheduled to operate the venue alone
- Opening and closing the premises when required
- Delivering friendly and efficient customer service
- Preparing and serving coffee and other drinks
- Supporting the preparation and service of our food and bistro offering
- Handling customer payments and operating the till
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Helping with stock ordering, deliveries and stock control
- Minimising wastage and unnecessary costs
- Ensuring food hygiene, health & safety and licensing procedures are followed
- Dealing confidently with customer queries and issues
- Supporting events, promotions and the continued development of Ronan’s
- Completing necessary opening, closing and daily operational checks
Working Commitment
This is a full-time salaried position and is not based around fixed daily hours.
The role requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, with the flexibility to work up to approximately 45 hours when required by the needs of the business.
Your working pattern will be organised around the needs of the business and will include a mixture of weekdays, weekends and key trading periods.
Some shifts, particularly during quieter trading periods, may be worked independently. The successful candidate must therefore be comfortable managing the venue, serving customers and completing the necessary operational duties without another member of staff being present.
Who We're Looking For
Previous supervisory or senior-level experience within a café, restaurant, pub, bar or similar hospitality environment would be preferred.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Hands-on and willing to get involved in every aspect of the operation
- Comfortable and confident working independently
- Friendly, professional and customer-focused
- Reliable and able to take responsibility for the venue
- Capable of prioritising tasks when working alone
- Comfortable supervising and motivating a small team when required
- Organised and able to manage a busy service
- Commercially aware and conscious of stock, staffing and wastage
- Comfortable making sensible decisions without constant supervision
- Flexible about working patterns
- Interested in helping develop and improve the business
This role would particularly suit an experienced Café Supervisor, Restaurant Supervisor, Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or senior hospitality team member who enjoys responsibility and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Salary
£30,000 per annum
