Role Description
As a Motor Fleet Underwriter, you'll be responsible for underwriting existing fleet business in line with Allianz's underwriting strategy, risk appetite and financial objectives. You'll work closely with brokers, providing technical expertise and delivering exceptional service while maintaining profitability.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of fleet risks and provides the opportunity to further develop your underwriting expertise within a market-leading insurer.
- Underwrite and negotiate Motor Fleet business within agreed authority levels.
- Assess and evaluate risks to support profitable portfolio growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders.
- Trade effectively to secure and retain profitable business opportunities.
- Deliver new business quotations, renewals and mid-term adjustments within service standards.
- Apply sound underwriting judgement while balancing risk and commercial objectives.
- Collaborate with colleagues across underwriting, distribution, claims and operations.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
- Support the achievement of team and regional business targets.
Location
This role is be based in our Manchester office, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you will attend the office 2 days per week.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £40,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- A strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment and portfolio management
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the confidence to make sound underwriting judgments
Essential Skills
- Previous experience underwriting Motor Fleet insurance risks.
- Good understanding of commercial insurance principles and risk assessment.
- Strong trading, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
