The role in one line
Cook fresh, homemade food for a bilingual nursery, in your own kitchen, with no evenings and no weekends.
What you'll do
- Cook breakfast, lunch and tea from scratch each day
- Prepare mid-morning and afternoon snacks
- Plan seasonal menus around fresh produce
- Cater for allergies, dietary needs and cultural preferences
- Work with parents and room staff on weaning and individual diets
- Keep the kitchen, records and food safety paperwork in good order
- Manage stock and ordering within budget
What we're looking for
- Experience cooking in a school, nursery, care or catering setting
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene (we'll fund it if you don't have it)
- Confidence with allergen management
- Someone who cares that the food is genuinely good, not just compliant
Formal chef qualifications are welcome but not essential. If you've cooked for children before and you're organised, we'd like to hear from you.

We've been a bilingual nursery in Clapham since 1998, and food matters here.
Everything is homemade. Menus follow the seasons. No added salt or sugar in anything we serve.
Children eat three meals a day with us, so you're not producing one lunch service, you're feeding them properly from morning to teatime.
You'll have real say over the menus, and you'll see the children eating what you've made.
