Austenwood Care Home is a small home in Gerrards Cross. We want them to be proud of their home. We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Maintenance Operative will play a vital role in maintaining safety standards, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, and decorating.
- Cooperate fully with management in respect of all Health & Safety compliance including Fire Regulations, Infection Control Procedures, LOLER, PUWER, and PAT testing requirements.
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues
- Respond to maintenance requests from residents or staff in a timely manner
- Keep accurate records of maintenance performed and materials used
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for larger repairs or installations
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of common areas and facilities
- Assist with snow removal and landscaping duties as needed including looking after the grounds, pathways, fences and gates.
- To understand the requirements for safeguarding as required by Buckinghamshire County Council and to ensure the safety of our residents at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and heating systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Basic proficiency in English
