We are looking for a conscientious, reliable and detail conscious Laundry Assistant to join our small, friendly housekeeping team, here at Philip Cussins House, a residential care home in the heart of Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that residents’ laundry is washed, dried, ironed and stored to a high standard, while also providing support with domestic cleaning duties on an as required basis.
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 2:30pm

Main Duties include:
- Sorting, washing, drying, ironing and folding residents’ clothing and other laundry.
- Ensuring residents’ clothing and personal items are handled carefully and returned promptly.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic laundry area.
- Supporting general domestic cleaning duties throughout the care home when required.
- Working respectfully and sensitively around our residents, always maintaining their dignity and privacy.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual, conscientious and well organised; able to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
· Understanding of health and safety regulations and always follow them.
- Friendly, approachable and respectful towards older people.
- Comfortable to carry out both laundry and cleaning duties.
- Able to work flexibly and respond to the changing needs of a small care home.
Previous experience in a care home, laundry or domestic environment is desirable; however, training will be provided, where appropriate.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a DBS screening certificate and references.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
