Overview
Green Leaf Engineering are a renewables specialist based at Team Valley, Gateshead, designing and delivering sustainable energy solutions across the UK. Our work spans solar PV systems, heat pumps, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, LED lighting, and solar canopies. As a dedicated renewable energy contractor, GLE focuses on the decarbonisation of commercial properties, supporting clients through the entire lifecycle of their carbon‑reduction journey. This includes initial feasibility studies and system design through to full project management, installation, delivery, and commissioning. We are committed to helping organisations reduce CO₂ emissions and generate clean, efficient energy for a more sustainable future.
Duties
Estimating & Cost Planning
- Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for EPC renewable energy projects (solar, BESS, ASHP)
- Develop and maintain robust cost models, benchmarking data, and pricing strategies
- Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to identify cost drivers and risks
Bid Management Support
- Collaborate with bid managers and commercial teams during tender submissions
- Provide input on pricing strategy, including risk allowances and value engineering opportunities
Supply Chain & Procurement Interface
- Liaise with procurement teams to obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Evaluate and validate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage, mentor, and develop the estimating team
- Implement best practices to improve estimating accuracy and consistency
Risk & Commercial Awareness
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities within bids
- Support smooth handover of successful bids to project delivery teams
Key Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in estimating within EPC, construction, or infrastructure.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent) but not essential if experience is proven.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of EPC project delivery and cost structures.
- Proficiency in estimating tools and Excel.
- Knowledge of renewable technologies is desirable.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
