Are you passionate about inspiring young people through the performing arts? Wyre Forest Theatre Academy is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and creative Performing Arts Tutors to join our growing team.
We are seeking people with a background in the performing arts, whether through professional performance, teaching, amateur dramatics, youth theatre, or experience working in theatres. A genuine passion for helping children build confidence through drama is just as important as experience.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and inspiring sessions including:
- After-school primary and secondary drama clubs
- Holiday workshops
- One-to-one and small group LAMDA tuition (training can be provided where required)
Lessons are designed to be fun, creative and confidence-building, helping every child develop performance skills in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate drama and performing arts sessions.
- Create a positive, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
- Support students to develop confidence, communication and performance skills.
- Prepare students for performances and LAMDA examinations where appropriate.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and health and safety.
- Communicate professionally with parents, schools and the WFTA team.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- A background in performing arts, drama, musical theatre or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching children or young people or performing experience.
- Professional theatre experience is welcomed but not essential.
- Amateur dramatics, youth theatre or theatre industry experience is also highly valued.
- Performing arts qualifications are desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- The ability to inspire confidence and creativity in children of all abilities.
Hours
This is flexible freelance, part-time work.
- After-school clubs are typically one hour long, mainly between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
- Applicants should be available to teach at least one club per week, with opportunities for up to five clubs, plus holiday workshops and additional tuition.
Essential Requirements
- Live within approximately 15 miles of Bewdley.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own transport.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one (at your own expense).
- A-Level (or equivalent) education.
Pay
Hourly rate is competitive and dependent on experience, qualifications and the number of students attending each session.
