Make an impact at The London Clinic!
We’re looking for an experienced PMI Relationship Manager to lead the commercial and operational management of our private medical insurer portfolio and build strong relationships with our PMI partners.
You will need to have experience within the PMI sector or from a private healthcare provider working specifically with PMI providers. What’s also essential is a strong understanding of how PMI works behind the scenes, including contracts, tariffs, pricing, reimbursement and negotiation, alongside strong commercial and relationship management skills.
Using data, insight and commercial judgement, you’ll manage negotiations, resolve complex issues, identify opportunities and work closely with clinical, finance and operational teams to improve performance and develop our services with insurer partners.
If you’re commercially savvy, confident managing relationships and enjoy using data to find opportunities and solutions, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact at The London Clinic.
What you’ll be doing
PMI Contract & Commercial Management
- Manage major PMI agreements, renewals, variations, networks and fixed-price packages.
- Lead negotiations on tariffs, reimbursement, coding, pricing, funding models and annual uplifts, protecting The London Clinic’s commercial position.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of insurer contracts, business rules, tariffs and coding requirements, challenging uncommercial or out-of-contract requests where appropriate.
- Anticipate insurer and market changes and support the introduction of new services, procedures and pathways.
Insurer Relationship, Governance & Performance
- Act as the principal contact for PMI partners, building strong relationships and resolving commercial, operational and contractual issues.
- Coordinate insurer KPIs, performance reviews, pathway reporting, audits and contractual obligations, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Investigate variances, complaints and audit requests, coordinating evidence-based responses and corrective action.
- Coordinate insurer meetings, visits, pathway discussions and senior communications.
Financial & Operational Performance
- Resolve funding, reimbursement, invoicing, payment and billing issues, identifying recurring problems and opportunities to improve cash conversion.
- Analyse insurer and internal data to identify trends, performance issues and commercial opportunities.
- Improve processes, guidance and training to support accurate billing and invoice acceptance.
Stakeholder & Strategic Collaboration
- Act as the central liaison between insurers and Commercial, Finance, Clinical Governance, Operations, Legal, Marketing and clinical teams.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional workstreams, using sound judgement to manage competing priorities and ensure delivery.
- Support commercial discussions and develop recommendations for new services, treatments, pathways and network opportunities.
- Identify and implement improvements that strengthen insurer relationships, revenue, margin and operational performance.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a similar commercial/PMI role.
- Strong experience working with major UK PMIs, including insurer-funded clinical pathways or networks.
- Strong commercial judgement, with confident negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills and the ability to constructively challenge when required.
- Highly analytical, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex financial, contractual and clinical information.
- Proactive, organised and solution-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities, identify opportunities and work effectively with limited supervision.
