We are looking for a Remediation Operative to join our operations team.
This is an entry-level opportunity, so previous remediation experience is not required. We are looking for someone with some experience in construction, groundwork, labouring or a similar hands-on environment, who has a good attitude and is keen to learn.
You will work across a variety of sites carrying out groundworks, construction, remediation and reinstatement works. The role can involve working with contaminated soil and assisting with oil and fuel spill response, so you will need to be comfortable with practical, physical work in different site environments.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out general groundworks, excavation and reinstatement works
- Undertaking hand-dig excavation to assist with contamination removal
- Assisting with the removal and handling of contaminated soil
- Assisting with oil and fuel spill response operations
- Carrying out general construction and building works
- Using hand and power tools
- Assisting with plant and machinery operations
- Supporting the maintenance and servicing of equipment
- Keeping sites clean, tidy and safe
- Taking photographs and assisting with site documentation
- Following health & safety procedures and RAMS
- Identifying potential hazards and working safely around different site environments
- Attending toolbox talks, training sessions and team meetings
What We're Looking For
- Some previous construction, groundwork or labouring experience
- Full UK Driving Licence – ESSENTIAL
- Based in Hull
- Willing to travel to different sites
- Happy to stay away from home when required
- A practical, hands-on approach
- Good attitude and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working outdoors and carrying out physically demanding work
- Able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
- Basic DBS check
No CSCS card is required – successful candidates will be put through the required testing/training.
Previous experience operating plant or machinery would be beneficial but is not essential. (Training provided).
Working Hours & Travel
Working hours are based around site hours:
08:00am – 4:00pm
Travel is normally around 1–1.5 hours, although this can occasionally be up to 2 hours. Where travel is longer, hotel accommodation will be provided.
There will be a company van shared between two successful operatives, with the two operatives arranging transport between home and site.
Overtime
- Before 6:00am / after 6:00pm – Time and a half
- Saturdays – Time and a half
- Sundays – Double time
Weekend work is very rare.
