An exciting opportunity to join our family run, private swim school. Our mission is to ensure all children have access to the highest standard of swimming lessons.
Greaves Swim School was established in October 2022. Our private pool located in Farsley, Leeds, LS28, offers small class sizes; maximum of 5 children. We focus on delivering the most effective, engaging swimming lessons possible. Our priority is ensuring our swimmers make the best progress possible, developing great technique and core aquatic skills whilst enjoying their time in the water!
We are seeking new recruits to join our team - no qualifications necessary. Following a period of 6 months assisting our lead instructor Michael with classes, we will cover the full cost of your Level 2 Swimming Instructor Course and Lifeguard Qualification.
Your working hours would be:
Wednesdays 2pm - 7pm
Saturdays 8am - 1pm or 1pm - 6pm
All our lessons are for children aged 3+ and for all abilities.
Our lessons operate 50 weeks of the year, meaning lessons continue throughout all school holidays with 2 weeks closed at Xmas. The position would be self employed at first, with the option of being employed after the 6 month assisting period.
Duties
- Assist senior instructors in delivering structured swimming lessons tailored to different skill levels
- Support the setup and organization of swimming sessions, including equipment preparation and pool safety checks
- Engage with learners to encourage participation, build confidence, and promote water safety awareness
- Observe and provide feedback on swimmers’ techniques under supervision, helping them improve their skills
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
- Participate in training sessions to develop coaching techniques, teaching methods, and water safety knowledge
- Contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the swimming facility by demonstrating enthusiasm and professionalism
Skills
- Previous experience in sports coaching or working with children is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage learners of all ages
- Passion for swimming, water safety, and helping others achieve their goals
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and learn quickly in a dynamic environment
- Good teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with senior staff and fellow trainees
- Enthusiastic attitude with a proactive approach to personal development and learning opportunities
