Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations and lead service on the Head chefs days off
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance monitoring
- Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency
- Prepare ingredients and dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation guidelines
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times
- Support the team during busy periods by actively participating in food preparation, cleaning, washing and service
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive knowledge of food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Strong team management and leadership abilities
- Excellent understanding of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Experience in hospitality or restaurant settings preferred
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Good communication skills to effectively lead and motivate staff
