Working as a Healthcare Assistant at Chadsfield Medical Practice involves providing high quality, patient centred care within our busy GP practice. We are a hugely supportive team who enjoy working together to support our patients. We offer comprehensive training as well as coffee catch ups and walks within the working day.
The role is integral to supporting the clinical team in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare services. Key responsibilities include carrying out a range of routine clinical procedures, such as measuring blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight; performing NHS Health Checks; taking blood samples (phlebotomy); conducting ECGs; collecting clinical specimens; administering vaccinations where appropriately trained; and assisting with the monitoring of patients with long-term conditions.
In addition, Healthcare Assistants are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring clinical equipment is cleaned, maintained, and fully stocked, and promoting health and wellbeing through patient education and support. They work collaboratively with GPs, practice nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of care while adhering to infection prevention and control procedures, safeguarding requirements, and patient confidentiality policies.
This is a 16 hour role, with working hours spread across three days and to include one 7am or 7.30am start with school pick up option every day, if applicable to applicant.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Phlebotomy qualification.
- Experience working in a healthcare or care setting. Experience providing direct patient care. Experience maintaining accurate patient records.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality, data protection (GDPR), infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and health and safety.
- Caring, compassionate, professional, trustworthy, reliable, flexible, approachable, and respectful. Positive attitude with a commitment to high quality patient care.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and continuous professional development.
- Satisfactory DBS clearance
Desirable
- Care Certificate. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Immunisation training.
- Previous experience working in general practice or primary care. Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks, ECGs, venepuncture, and health promotion activities.
- Knowledge of primary care services, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), chronic disease monitoring, and NHS policies. Familiarity with clinical systems such as EMIS Web
