Celona Consulting is looking for an enthusiastic Trainee CAD Technician to join our growing design consultancy in Shaftesbury.
This is an entry-level opportunity, so previous CAD or construction experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, takes pride in producing accurate work and is interested in buildings, architecture and construction.
You will receive practical, structured training while working on real residential, commercial and heritage projects. The role will initially focus on carrying out building surveys and producing accurate existing drawings. As your experience develops, you will progress into planning, technical design and BIM coordination.
What You Will Learn
You will be trained to:
- Assist with measured building and site surveys
- Assist with drone surveys and site photography
- Record building levels and site information
- Produce existing floor plans, elevations and sections
- Prepare planning and technical drawings
- Use AutoCAD and Revit
- Understand building construction and detailing
- Organise drawings, photographs and project information
- Assist with design programmes, risk registers and project records
- Understand the Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act
- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants and contractors
Our initial training objective will be to help you confidently complete measured surveys and produce accurate existing plans, elevations and sections within your first two months.
About You
You do not need previous industry experience, but you should have:
- A genuine interest in architecture, design or construction
- Good computer skills
- Strong attention to detail
- A willingness to learn and accept feedback
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A reliable, organised and professional approach
- Confidence working independently and as part of a small team

Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, surveying, photography or drones would be helpful, but it is not essential because training will be provided.
