AWS Public Sector is hiring a specialist to build the go-to-market plan for custom silicon across UKGI (UK, Germany and International Organisations). You will define the market, shape the proposition, and drive adoption into government workloads at a time when sovereign AI infrastructure and national-scale compute programmes are creating unprecedented demand for custom silicon (Trainium, Inferentia, Graviton, Nitro) and GPU.
Near-term, you will support our account teams to win GPU and Graviton deals. Longer-term, you will develop the strategy for positioning AWS-designed chips into infrastructure programmes where public sector organisations want to own on-premises compute as a national asset. This is a new role with no established playbook - you will build it from scratch.
You will work directly with Annapurna Labs (the team behind AWS custom silicon), UK government programme leads, and account teams across Defence, Intelligence, Central Government, and Research to connect real customer demand to the next generation of AWS chips.
The ideal candidate is excited about the incredible opportunity silicon innovation presents in the industry today and is deeply passionate about working with great teams that deliver the highest quality services. You are naturally customer obsessed and thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and solid communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
- Build and own the Advanced Compute pipeline for UKGI: identify, qualify, and progress opportunities for Graviton, Trainium, Inferentia, and GPU across UK public sector accounts.
- Develop the go-to-market strategy for AWS silicon in sovereign and on-premises contexts.
- Support account teams on active GPU deals - providing technical positioning, commercial structuring, and deep market expertise.
- Build the demand signal from UK government: aggregate requirements and translate customer intent into product roadmap input.
- Develop customer-facing propositions around confidential computing on Graviton, on-premises silicon deployment, and sovereign AI compute.
- Work with Public Policy to position AWS silicon within broader government policy and frameworks such as the UK AI Hardware Plan.
- Bridge hardware and software, translate silicon performance capabilities into customer-facing value propositions and product requirements that span the full solution stack
- Build relationships with senior technical and commercial decision-makers at C-suite level.
A day in the life
You split your time between progressing active GPU opportunities with account teams and building the longer-term Chips go-to-market plan. A typical week might include briefing an account team on Graviton positioning for a department migration, joining an internal call with silicon teams to relay UK government compute requirements, drafting a customer proposal for confidential compute on Trainium, and meeting a programme director at a government department to discuss AI research infrastructure options. You report directly to the Head of Customer Acceleration and work closely with Solutions Architects, Specialist Sellers, and the Public Policy team.
About the team
The AI, Emerging Tech & Customer Acceleration team is the specialist engine supporting UKGI account teams. Our job is to find new markets, bring deep technical and commercial skills into the biggest deals, and accelerate the time between opportunity and outcome for UK public sector customers.
