SUMMARY
Kip & Nook is growing and we’re looking for an experienced, organised and hands-on Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping operation and ensure the entire site is consistently maintained to the high standard our guests expect.
Kip & Nook is more than just a hotel. Set within 250 acres of North Yorkshire countryside, we’re home to boutique cabins, camper van pitches, wellness facilities, unique guest spaces, and experiences designed to feel special from the moment guests arrive.
As Housekeeping Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the presentation, cleanliness and overall guest experience across the site. You’ll lead the housekeeping team, manage daily cleaning operations, oversee stock and laundry, monitor standards and work closely with the wider team to ensure everything is ready for our guests.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real pride in their work, has an excellent eye for detail and is confident leading a team in a busy hospitality environment.
THE ROLE
Staff Management
- Lead and manage the housekeeping team on a day-to-day basis
- Support with recruitment and hiring of new housekeeping team members
- Train and onboard new staff to Kip & Nook’s standards and procedures
- Create and manage staff rotas, ensuring adequate housekeeping cover across the site
- Allocate daily cleaning tasks and ensure these are completed efficiently and to the required standard
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance, training and support where required
- Ensure the housekeeping team are working safely and consistently to the standards of the business
- Manage deep-cleaning schedules and preventative maintenance cleaning schedules
QUALITY CONTROL
- Check accommodation daily after they've been cleaned, public areas and additional guest spaces to ensure they are clean, presented and ready for guest check-ins
- Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail
- Ensure brand-consistent presentation across all accommodation, including styling, amenities, utensils and guest products
- Carry out regular quality checks and address any areas that do not meet the required standard
- Help develop and maintain housekeeping checklists and cleaning procedures
- Contribute to guest experience initiatives, including welcome touches, seasonal styling and presentation
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure the site is guest-ready at all times
INVENTORY CONTROL
- Manage stock levels of cleaning products, chemicals, linens, toiletries and guest amenities
- Monitor usage and identify when additional stock is required
- Place or communicate stock requirements to the relevant person
- Ensure housekeeping storage areas are clean, organised and appropriately stocked
- Help monitor costs and minimise unnecessary waste
MAINTENANCE
- Identify and report maintenance issues, damage or defects across accommodation and guest areas
- Liaise with the maintenance team to ensure issues are communicated clearly and dealt with promptly
- Follow up on outstanding maintenance issues and ensure they are completed to the required standard
- Ensure any maintenance issues affecting guest check-ins are escalated appropriately
LAUNDRY
- Act as the main point of contact for the external linen company
- Monitor linen levels and ensure sufficient stock is available for upcoming bookings
- Communicate requirements for additional linen, earlier collections or deliveries when required
- Identify any issues with linen quality, shortages or deliveries and communicate these promptly
- Ensure clean and used linen is appropriately organised and managed on site
HEALTH & SAFETY / COMPLIANCE
- Ensure COSHH procedures are followed correctly when handling cleaning chemicals
- Ensure safe manual handling practices are followed throughout the housekeeping team
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and used safely and correctly
- Maintain housekeeping risk assessments and safe working procedures
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, hygiene and infection control standards
- Maintain accurate housekeeping records, including training, incidents, inspections and relevant checks
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe and professional working environment
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who is experienced, organised and genuinely passionate about high standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous housekeeping or hotel management experience
- Previous experience managing or supervising a housekeeping team
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for presentation
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The confidence to lead, train and manage a team
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of the housekeeping department
- A proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
- Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with other departments
- A strong understanding of cleanliness, hygiene and housekeeping standards
- An awareness of COSHH, health & safety and safe working practices
- The ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment where priorities can change
- A hands-on approach — this is a management role, but you won’t be afraid to get stuck in when needed
- A genuine passion for creating an exceptional guest experience
HOURS & CONTRACT
We’re looking for a Housekeeping Manager to work 40 per week.
The role will involve a mixture of weekdays and weekends, with flexibility required during busy periods, peak season and around guest arrivals and departures.
