Junior Management Accountant
Salary: Starting at £40,000
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Location: Belfast — office-based, 5 days per week
We’re looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join a growing finance team and take the next step in their accounting career.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills across a broad range of finance activities rather than focusing on one area. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you’ll gain valuable exposure to management accounts, payroll, VAT, credit control, stock, pricing and financial analysis.
You’ll play an important role in providing accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making, while developing your technical and commercial accounting skills.
This is a full-time, office-based position, Monday to Friday, with the successful candidate working from the office five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Posting journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Producing sales reports, management information and performance scorecards
- Monitoring stock levels and investigating or highlighting data discrepancies
- Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll processes
- Managing credit control and following up outstanding balances
- Completing bank administration and reconciliations
- Supporting product pricing and providing commercial analysis
- Carrying out weekly cost analysis, including fuel and wage costs
- Managing weekly payroll and Sage accounts for the retail operation
- Providing general finance support and assisting with ad hoc analysis and projects
We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, organised and keen to develop their accounting career.
You’ll ideally have:
- At least 12 months’ experience in an office, administration or finance environment
- AAT qualification or equivalent, or be studying towards AAT, CIMA or another relevant accounting qualification
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills and confidence working with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Sage
- The ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- A positive, team-focused approach and a willingness to learn
